Text message problem!

I have the slide but my cousin gave me his lx 08. The problem is that when I receive text messages it doesn't make a sound or vibrate. They told me its a common problem for the lx. Is there a solution? Yes I do have the data plan. Is this due to the network problems going on? If so when will it be back to normal? Because my slide notifies me instantly

yes. it is because of the network problem, once the network is working fine you will be able to hear the txt msg sound and when somebody txt you, you will see the names and not just the numbers.
