this phone and site are a scam

in case anyone posting didn't know, the main purpose of this site is obviously to monitor sidekick users for hackers and other people trying to circumvent this phone's user-antagonistic theme. It's basically the cyber-equivalent of a high-school dance with the principle leering over your shoulder to make sure you behave. Several of the posters, 'justarep' in particular, obviously work for either T-mobile or Danger. I can't believe the lengths T-mobile and Danger have gone to to protect this money-trap of a phone. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT BUY ANY SIDEKICK PHONE EVER. I would advise against using any other Danger product in the future or subscribing to T-mobile services as well. Do you find this valuable?

Hi. I'm curious as to how this wiki would be used to 'monitor' users for hackers. You're not required to give up personal information to join or comment. While T-Mobile and Danger obviously would prefer users not circumvent the operating system or violate the T-Mobile T&C, I'm interested to see your evidence as to how any user has had their freedoms to use their phone restricted by the wiki staff and moderators.

Incidentally, this wiki is sponsored by T-Mobile, as it says right on the front page. If you look at my profile, you'll see my outright statement that I work for T-Mobile (and that my opinions are my own and not endorsed by T-Mobile). This isn't some sort of conspiracy theory at work, guy.

The Sidekick family of devices is, for a variety of reasons for good or bad, a closed system, and as far as I'm aware neither Danger nor T-Mobile attempt to claim otherwise. If you don't like it, buy a more open device, like an Android device. However, I'd appreciate it if you didn't troll aimlessly across this wiki.

Jeebus, I'm surprised at the level of paranoia......goes without saying they are here reading it, all well and good! It is a great way to get feedback about the issues we are all dealing with currently with new models. I'm glad you are here, justarep (sorry, don't know your name:) to give us some inside info we could use!

While it's true that I'm disappointed in the software, (mainly because it doesn't support flash) and some of the issues it has, I'm happy with the SideKick LX 09 I purchased several months ago. This is my third one, and though it still has some software "itis's" here and there, I have less problems with the new one, it is more reliable. The T-Mobile reps were very nice and accomodating (even though I was impatient and at times loud) during my last converstation regarding problems with the replacement, and I was satisfied with their response and shipping a "NEW" one out right away.

Don't know 'bout the rest here, but I'm not interested in violating T&C so as to "void" my warranty which has been a great thing to have while working through the issues with this newest model.

On a side note - there is not one phone that I've tried that does everything with no problems. I've used quite a few, and I must say, even the iPhone has issues. That thing gets BOILING HOT and dies QUICK! Also, on the iPhone and iPod Touch, the audio jack hole gets screwed up pretty fast and you have no choice but to use bluetooth devices! My SideKick lasts me all day while working and using it as an mp3 player. It is a dream to text on (and if you have hot dog fingers, you are still ok on the kick, unlike the iPhone and iPod touch!) so I'm pretty happy thus far. There's gonna be bad ones in any model of phone, but my husband and I love our SideKicks.

Just my 2,
Sharon
