I ended up having to take the first one I bought back and exchange it for a new one because the track ball was messed up. It would move but it wouldnt scroll down. The guy at the store told me that when you have sidekicks for a long time, you get lots of dirt and other random stuff under the ball and it'll stop working. he said to take a q-tip or a cloth and lightly put some alcohol ( DONT soak it ) on it and roll it around the tract ball to clean it. I dunno if this will work for you but it usually works for me so give it a try.

"he said to take a q-tip or a cloth and lightly put some alcohol ( DONT soak it ) on it and roll it around the tract ball to clean it. "DO NOT use ANY liquid to clean the trackball!!! Ever!!! This could soak through and change the Liquid Damage Indicator stickers from white to pink or red which in turn would completely VOID your 1 year manufacturer's warranty! There are ways around this. 1) Place both thumbs over the trackball, and gently apply pressure while moving the trackball in all directions. 2) Follow the steps listed below to resolve or identify a faulty trackball: Turn off the device. Remove the battery. (You will lose everything on the device if you don't have the SK Internet pkg) Replace the battery back in the device. Press and hold the W key. With English highlighted, select Reboot. The device reboots. Verify that the trackball functions properly. Run Diagnostics on the Trackball - Press the Jump button to access the Jump screen. Press the Menu button. Select Settings. Select System Info. Press and hold down the Menu + Shift + D buttons. Note: on some older models of the Sidekick, you can hold down Menu + Shift + D directly from the Jump screen. The diagnostic screen appears. By default, all tests are selected. To select specific tests, follow these steps: By default, all tests are selected. To select specific tests, follow these steps: Press the Menu button. Select Clear all tests. Scroll to the desired test and press the wheel to select. Once the desired tests are selected, select Start Tests at the bottom of the screen. If this does not resolve the issue, run the diagnostic once more even if the first attempt was successful. Do you find this valuable? |
