i am from scotland and am planning on gettin getting the sidekick 2008 whilst i am in america in late june. i currently have a contract with orange and not t-mobile and really dont want to change to them. i know that it is possible to get the phone unlocked.

all i really want to be able to do on the phone is send and reciave texts, phonecalls, picture message and take photographs with this sidekick. can you please tell me if all theese would be possible if i was to unlock the phone then use an orange contract sim in the phone.

thanks.

Hi, read this. What you're asking about is possible, but there are some very important details to note, specifically around if you lose power to the Sidekick: http://wiki.sidekick.com/page/International+Sidekick+Usage 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Idk if this is too late...but DON'T! listen to what everyone says to discourage you..i bought the phone from people who tried to say it didn't get anything..but in their terms they said all you have to do is get the WAP settings...but they told me it wouldn't work with the sidekick..and oh buddy they were wrong...

I have at&T and get to enjoy all features a t-mobile user does.you just have to google the WAP settings..or how to get internet for it..google is quite an useful search engine:)

Care to be everyone's hero and share with the wiki where you changed your settings for AT&T? Also, the Sidekick browser isn't a WAP browser. Everything routes through the Danger server under your Sidekick username login credentials (when you're on T-Mobile).

Actually, yeah I will..and my family isn't doing the internet yet, but I am more than sure I can get it cause I sure as heck get the multimedia..so apparently the WAP settings work for the unlocked phone!

And to prove it to you, you go to settings network options and insert the WAP settings in the APN...and then you go to the multimedia messaging page and go to settings..account..add a new account..and type in the WAP information for your service provider.

So maybe if you weren't so caught up being RUDE and trying to prove everyone wrong..you could've searched it yourself and found out how to get it to work..

Actually, I did spend twenty minutes searching, and I only turned up people asking how (and not getting responses). Forgive me for being skeptical, but you're claiming to do something that nobody has proven that they have successfully managed to do.

I'm also aware of how the Sidekick handles data on the back-end, and it's not simple.

Sorry to be rude, but your comment seemed extremely rude.
I researched what I searched before and here is the link i used...
First i used the best answer..and then i followed the steps that the next answer said to..(the one about going to at&t's website n finding info for the quickfire)
