why does AIM sign me out?

during school, I get no service (obviously)... and it signs me out during school, but it doesn't show me that I signed out, it restarts my session and in a way logs me out, then back in. why is this? I haven't had a problem with the sidekick 3 or lx, and neither has my friends... but I'm having the problem with my sidekick 2008. help, it's really annoying. Do you find this valuable?
