SIDEKICK SLIDE OVER THE AIR UPDATE
Mar 1 2009, 7:53 AM EST | Post edited: Mar 1 2009, 7:53 AM EST
Hey guys,

Been a while since I have posted here, Too busy waiting for the news sidekick blade to come out.

But anyway, my wife's sidekick slide just got an over the air update that said "your slide is ready to be used on the new system"

This radio firmware update is obviously a sign of the new 3g network coming for the sidekick blade, and should make it possible for older sidekicks to run on the new network.

go to this link to check the screen shot.

Yeah, that is probably a definite sign of a future device coming. We already kind of know about the new Blade already so it's not that shocking.

Oh yeah, you can't use 3G if you don't have a 3G radio. A 3G radio is a piece of hardware and OTA are over the air, so they don't just magically carry chips and whatnot into the sky and place them in your phone. :p

Jezus cripes do you think im a fudging tool?
Im a developer for crying out loud. I understand hardware you shmuck.

Read my post dipsh!t
The slide got a radio update so it can operate on the new 3g network. It obvious that it will not be able to operate in the 3g frequency band. But certain radio firmware was upated to make it operational with the danger servers and backend. Tmobile would not stand to lose all of it's sk users. So things had to updated, hence the screenshot message saying "your ready to use the new system."

I've no idea what this OTA is or why it's being received. I'm almost tempted to put it in the rumor mill because I don't know what it's for. However, this is because I'm on hiatus. Do you find this valuable?

I'll break it down for you. The sidekick network has been updated to support the new sidekick coming out in a few months.

The over the air update (OTA) enables your slide to work with the new network.

You will not have 3g.

Your slide will connect to the network at 2g speeds.
