not showning contacts, not getting notified about txt message help plz

as it stated, when i get a txt message the contacts name doesnt appear and also i dont get notified for it. ill get an alert 2mins later but not an incint notification. i tried everything, and it still not working. can someone please help? please and thanks

i have the exact same problem! also myfaves does not show up on my menu. and when i get a text it does not give me a preview of the first few words of the text in the top right of the screen like earlier sidekick models. my phone does not vibratre or tell me when i have a message. PLEASE HELP!!!

The data plan fixed all that for me. Cheap T-mobile.

you got to have internet on the sidekick to be notified about incoming text messages otherwise it won't work and about the contact thing..mine does that too off and on but not alot i wouldn't say that's anything you have to worry about

Like charging someone for adding more than 5 contacts.Actually, the reason why contacts are not showing properly, notifications for texts aren't coming in, and so on, is a known system issue. However, it more or less only occurs when you don't have the plan. It SHOULD work anyway, but for now, that's the only current solution. And, kickitLX's comment wasn't irrelevant. He didn't start talking about papayas. That would be irrelevant. He was perhaps being snarky, but not completely irrelevant. Do you find this valuable? |

If not, you need to add that to your plan and then you will automatically be notified of any pending alerts! :) Do you find this valuable? |

If you sign up for data then restart your phone and cancel the service right away you will not have to pay for it and your sidekick will work properly. (Of course you wont get email or internet on it but your phone will ring/vibrate when you get a text and show the sender of the message.) For more help call 611 for T-mobile help. Currently (October 6, 2009) there is a known data issue that is occurring with Sidekicks. While this is happening, your Sidekick may not have access to all of the data services, and it will essentially be as if your data plan is not added. This is a technical issue.
