sidekick as prepaid

I know it is possible to use a Sidekick as a prepaid phone, and the slide is being sold as a prepaid right now.

I read somewhere that you need a Sidekick activation code for the sidekick plan if you're using an older sidekick, meaning, one from a sidekick prepaid package only, that you wouldn't be able to use an activation code from a standard prepaid handset package because it would give you a standard prepaid plan. Is this true? Because Tmobile's prepaid activation website [http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/plans/activateprepaid.aspx?WT.mc_n=Prepaid_Activate&WT.mc_t=Other] has a 'Sidekick' plan option.

I am looking to purchase a used Sidekick 3 and then a standard 1208 prepaid Nokia for the sim and activation code if it would work.

Thanks.

Well, to activate as a Sidekick Prepaid account, yes, you need the activation code from a Sidekick kit. But, you can activate any old kit with its code and then, after activation, say, maybe a day or two later, call in and ask to have the account changed to the Sidekick plan because you just bought a Sidekick. Since you're going to be using your existing plan, you don't need a Sidekick activation code. 2  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

You can do that IF YOUR SIM CARD is an active SIM on a prepaid account. If it's an old SIM that has been canceled and you don't currently have an account, no, you need a new one.

You can use every Sidekick from the SK II onwards. You need a prepaid activation kit, which includes a SIM card and activation code. You do not need to buy a kit that includes a phone. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

You still need an activation code to start a new prepaid account, xtinaroqz. You will need a brand new, unused SIM, but the code as well. If you're starting a non-prepaid account, you'll just need the SIM and a phone (of some kind, Sidekick or otherwise). Do you find this valuable?
