try holding down @ + 1 + 0 and the same time (make sure its teh @ by the space bar at the bottom left of the keypad)

ok the the soft reset so does not work... i've been messin with my little cousins phone for a few hours now and all i did was reset it in more than one way...you have a reset button on the back of your phone under the skin...you can also rest it by hittin the R when the four icons show up when your sidekick first turns on... I didn't give the phone a chance to reboot it self completely befor i reset again and after a while..i got a icon that displayed the phone was confused and i hit reboot in english...well that wasn't the end of it because it didn't work!!! so i reset the phone like crazy with the soft reset and the reset on the back... you'll know when it works when you hear the sounds display on your phone... now if you shut off your turn on sound...than your just gonna have to wait and one more strong advise DO NOT CHANGE THE LANGUAGE ON YOUR SIDEKICK..everywhere i have read states that their phones have froze and they had to get a new one..my little cousin is lucky im good with cell phones...and by the way when i was resetting it i had it plugged into my computer with the sims card out... so i guess it was his lucky day!! and if you need anymore help just send me a message i'll help but keep in mind i have never owned a sidekick...i got the old school nokia phone from t-mobile
