Slide wont connect to computer
Jun 2 2008, 6:33 PM EDT
ok so a friend of mine just gave me a slide, unfortunately that was all i got, no charger, usb cable or anything else. But thats besides the point, i have numerous mini usb cables for my blackberry but im trying to connect the slide to my computer to put music, add themes etc. and when i plug any of them in, the slide connects and disconnects endlessly. i have had enough of a second to put 1 song on the memory card. What do i need to do to make this work? i am getting frustrated to no end and am ready to give the phone back. i have purcahsed a mini usb cable specifically for motorola phones since they want to be difficult and make their products different and the same for a charger, but i have be hitting dead ends at every turn and honestly ready to give up. any advice?

hey i might be able to help you um if you have a motorola usb thats good for starters as alot of usb cords that have the same slot as the slide wont work why who knows but have you tried plugging it into different usb ports on your computer sometimes the slide will need a certain usb port to run mine works on a 2.0 port not sure where it is on your comp and they dont normally tell you but if you have more then one port plug it into all of them and see if it works if that dosent its not the phone that is playing up it will be your usb drives on your computer as i have had the same problem where it will connect and disconnect from the comp if all else fails and you really want to put things onto your phone as much of a pain in the arse as it is take your memory card out and buy yourself a cheap memory car reader put the small memory card in your phone into the larger one you would have gotten with your phone and put it into the card reader that should hopefully work i hope this helps in some way for you and good luck.

i have a problem that's either exactly the same or very similar. When i plug the phone with the card directly into my computer, first the computer reads it, and shows the top-level of folders - but then it will suddenly stop and disappear. This happens no matter what USB port I plug the phone into. When i take the memory card out of the phone, plug it into a card reader and stick that in my computer, the card reads fine and i can put music on it, etc. i'm using the motorola USB cord that came with the phone, and a brand-new 4g microsd memory card from sandisk. 2 out of 5 found this valuable. "want some advice?Yah, already got one. Just annoyed by having to take off the cover and the battery and take the card out, rather than connect via the USB port that's already built into the phone. But, whatev. Just hoping there's a way to have it work as designed.... 1 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

OK, I just got a Macbook pro, with OSX Leopard 10.5.4. The Slide connects to this computer no problem. So the problem has to be XP's drivers. I had the latest XP drivers all installed, so I don't know how to otherwise resolve that issue. But if you have a Mac, this shouldn't be a problem. 2 out of 9 found this valuable. Do you? |
