Slide - Contacts question
Jan 3 2008, 10:00 AM EST
My daughter got a Slide for Xmas. We do not plan to subscribe to the Email/Internet feature of the phone. She does not need the additional distraction. Since we are not, each time she powers down, she loses all new contacts. Also, she is not able to utilize the existing contacts on her simm card. Can the phone be set to retrieve and use contacts from her simm card? The music and photos appear unaffected. Any ideas?

I don't have a Slide in my hands to figure out how (if at all possible) you can pull your contacts off your SIM into the Slide. However, I'm going to be Captain Obvious and confirm that the contacts on the Slide synchronize with the Danger server (through the data services), but since you're not subscribing to it, it can't synchronize and they are not saved. My own personal recommendation is to return the Slide (if you are within Buyer's Remorse) and get a different phone if you aren't going to use the data features, because that's 75% of the Sidekick's features gone right there. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. well hey that use to happen to me all the time. what you can do is turn on the sidekick data plan just for one day for 60 cents. so it will save everything on the phone then cancel your data plan. so everytime you lose all your contacts just activate your data plan to receive all your contacts back. call your customer service for further concerns.

The data plan CAN (but does not always) take up to 48 hours to go through, FYI.

With Data feature: you can access the web, email, instant messangers, downlaod catalog, unl sms/mms etc... and everything that you put in the phone i.e. notes contacts, to do's etc wll be backed up onto the servers set up for sidekick users WITHOUT a data feature: none of what i said above. however if you do save a contact to the phoen you can save it to your sim card by highlighting the contact, press menu (3 lined key in the upper left) and selecting "Copy Contact to SIM" and if you dont have any contacts on your phone but there is contacts on the SIM you can open up your address book (make sure you can browse contacts) press menu, go to settings (you should see create new contcat when you press menu btw) and select "Import SIM contacts" and that imports the contacts from your SIM back to your phone 1 out of 2 found this valuable.
