If you have selected the Show timestamps setting, then you will see the time appear in the conversation window, just above the message to which it refers:

• If your conversation has been idle for at least two minutes, a timestamp will appear before the next message sent or received.
  
  
• If you're in an active conversation, a timestamp will appear every ten minutes.
