Send a New Message from the Desktop InterfaceThis is a featured page

To compose and send a new email message, do the following.

  1. Click the New Message link at the top of the sidebar. The New Message page opens:

Note: If you are on the Jump page, you can open the New Message page directly by clicking New Message in the Email section of the page.


  • Compose your message.

  • From field - If you have set up external accounts, select the address you want to use from the drop-down list in this field.
  • To field - Type the email address of the person to whom you are sending the message. Separate multiple addresses with a comma (,). If you want to select from a list of your Address Book contacts, click the Look Up Addresses button and you'll be able to check off addresses from a list of all your contacts who have email addresses on file.

  • CC and BCC fields - Optional fields; type the email addresses of the persons you want to copy or blind copy. Separate multiple addresses with a comma (,).

  • Subject field - Type your subject line; it can be up to 256 characters long.

  • Attach Files button - if you want to attach file(s) from your local desktop or laptop computer's hard drive, click the Attach Files button. The Attach Files page opens, allowing you to select up to 2M in total attachment size. Click the Attach Files button once you're finished selecting all the files you want to attach to the message.

  • Attach Photos button - if you want to attach a photo from your Photo gallery to send as an attachment to the message, click this button to open your photos. Check the box(es) for the photo(s) you want to attach, then click Send Checked. You are returned to the New Message page, with the selected photos now attached.

  • Attach vCard - To export contact information and attach it to your email message, click this button. On the contact list that opens, click one or more contacts, then click the Attach Checked vCards button. The vCards for the contacts you selected are attached to your new message.

  • Message body - Type your message; a message body can be as long as you want.

  • Signature - Edit or use the default signature. Signatures can be up to 320 characters and it is recommended that you limit yourself to four lines. Set your default signature on the Accounts page.

  1. To send the message, click Send.
  2. To save the message as a draft, click Save as Draft. You'll be returned to your Inbox. You can click Drafts in the sidebar at any time to complete and send the message, or discard it.
  3. To discard the message, click Cancel. You'll be returned to your Inbox.
