Network

If you wish to change the network to which your device is connected, you can do this from the Networks screen. (You can always tell what network you're currently on by pressing Jump Network customization - sidekick 2 - Sidekick . The current network is shown on the Phone splash screen.) You can also change your APN setting from this screen. The Network Band is selected automatically. (The device supports 1900 MHz (North America), 900/1800 (Asia, Europe). Note: If you change your settings on the Network screen and want to restore them to factory default settings, simply open the menu and select Restore Defaults. Doing so will reset all settings on this screen! To open the Network screen, from the Jump screen, press Menu Network customization - sidekick 2 - Sidekick then select Settings > Network.

Network Selection

You have two methods of selecting a network: automatic and manual. By default, your device is set to select a network automatically, but you can use the Network screen to select one manually.
  1. Go to the Network Selection group box. The Scan and Select Manually button is highlighted by default. Simply press the wheel to start the scan.

  2. When the available network(s) have been located, you'll see the Choose Network dialog box. Press the wheel to open the pop-up menu.

    Scroll to highlight the network you want to switch to, then press the wheel to select it. Select Done Network customization - sidekick 2 - Sidekick . Note: It is also from this screen that you set your device to scan for networks automatically.
  3. Once your device has connected to the network you selected, the Network screen will reflect your selection.

Network APN

In some cases, you will be required to set the APN (Access Point Name) on your device, which is how your device knows which network to connect to. Important! Do not change your APN settings unless directed to by your wireless operator.


  1. Scroll down to the Network APN group box and select the Change Network APN button. The Change Network APN dialog box appears.

  2. Rotate the wheel to highlight the APN text box. Type the APN as instructed by your wireless operator. Repeat for Username and Password text boxes, using the values provided by your operator.
  3. Select Set APN when finished.

Network Band

The Network Band is selected automatically. The device supports 1900 MHz (North America), 900/1800 (Asia, Europe).
