How to open e-mail attachments and what types are supported - Sidekick 3This is a featured page

The T-Mobile Sidekick® 3 (all styles) supports the following file types as attachments:
Audio files (Can only be played if file is less than 100K)
  • .mp3 - MPEG Layer 3
  • .midi - Musical Instrument Digital Interface
  • .wav - WaveForm audio format
  • .aiff - Audio interchange file format
  • .rmf - Redistribution Matrix File
Image files
  • .gif - Graphic Interchange Format
  • .jpg / .jpeg - Joint Photographic Experts Group
  • .png - Portable Network Graphics
  • .bmp - Bitmap
Document files
  • .doc - Microsoft Word Files
  • .pdf - Adobe Acrobat, text only
Complete the following to open or limit the size of e-mail attachments:
Open an e-mail attachment
  1. Press the Jump button to access the Jump screen.
  2. Scroll to and select Email.
  3. Scroll to and select Inbox.
  4. Scroll to and select desired message.
    • NOTE: A paperclip icon beside the message indicates there is an attachment.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the message and select the attachment.
    • To play an audio file, select Play.
      • NOTE: T-Mobile customers can only listen to sound attachments. See: Sound files cannot be saved.
Limit the size or type of e-mail attachments
  1. Press the Jump button to access the Jump screen.
  2. Press Menu.
  3. Select Settings and then Attachments.
  4. Select desired setting:
    • Remove attachments larger than:
      • 100K
      • 250K
      • 500K
      • 1M
    • Remove attachment of these types:
      • Images
      • PDF
      • Word
      • Excel
      • PowerPoint
      • Audio
      • Unsupported Audio
      • Multimedia
      • All other attachments
For unsupported attachments
  • Displays an icon showing that an attachment exists but cannot be viewed on the Sidekick.
  • Forward those e-mails to a desktop computer's email client. The attachment is viewable assuming that the computer has the right viewing program.
