This page describes how to customize the capture options.

Before you take a photo, you can set a number of options from the Capture screen: photo size, flash, exposure, sharpness, fluorescent light filtering, and JPEG quality (compression).
  1. From the Jump screen or the Browse Albums screen, press the RIGHT SHOULDER How to customize the capture options - Sidekick button.
  2. The Capture screen appears with the image currently in focus in the "viewfinder".

  3. Select a photo size by pressing MENU How to customize the capture options - Sidekick and selecting from:
    • Large (1280 x 1024)
    • Medium (640 x 480)
    • Small (320 x 240)
  4. Open the Flash & Exposure setting menu by selecting the flash & exposure icon How to customize the capture options - Sidekick How to customize the capture options - Sidekick at the lower-right of the screen. (The icons indicate the current flash & exposure settings.) The menu opens.

  5. Select the Flash & Exposure settings you want: How to customize the capture options - Sidekick - Flash is on. How to customize the capture options - Sidekick - Flash is off. How to customize the capture options - Sidekick - Flash will be used as required by light conditions (AutoFlash). How to customize the capture options - Sidekick - Normal daylight exposure. How to customize the capture options - Sidekick - Night or lowlight exposure.
  6. Turn Sharpness on or off. (It is on by default.) You may get better results in sunlight with Sharpness turned off.
  7. You can make the following advanced settings by pressing MENU How to customize the capture options - Sidekick and selecting Settings:
    • Fluoresecent Light Filtering - To correct color under fluorescent light, select 50 Hz for Europe or 60 Hz for North America.
    • JPEG Quality - Select the Low-to-High slider to open it for editing. Roll the TRACKBALL right to increase quality (decrease compression) or roll left to decrease quality (increase compression). The lower the quality, the smaller the image size.
  8. Press the TRACKBALL when finished to make the setting. Press DONE How to customize the capture options - Sidekick to return to the Capture screen.
