This page describes how to access the diagnostic sceen for testing device components on the device.To access the Sidekick diagnostic screen:
- Press the Jump button to access the Jump screen.
- Press the Menu button.
- Select Settings.
- Select System Info.
- Press and hold down the Menu + Shift + D buttons.
- The diagnostic screen appears.
By default, all tests are selected. To choose specific tests:
- Press the Menu button.
- Select Clear all tests.
- Scroll to the desired test and press the wheel to select.
- Once the desired tests are selected, select Start Tests at the bottom of the screen.
- The customer will have to follow the prompts given on the screen to complete the diagnostic series of tests.
Evaluating results:
- If this does not resolve the issue, run the diagnostic once more even if the first attempt was successful.
- NOTE: Only disregard a successful result if the problem described by the customer is well defined and repeatable.
The following functions can be tested:
- Screen Rotation
- Keyboard
- Trackball
- LCD Test Pattern
- LED: this tests the D-pad navigator's red / green / blue backlight.
- Backlight
- Vibration & Speaker: CAUTION: this test makes a surprisingly sharp tone. This is normal.
- Charger Detect
- SIM Detection
- SD Card Detection
- Battery Cover
- Light Meter
- Reset capability: not recommended, do not select, not active by default
- Burn in: not recommended, do not select, not active by default
