This page describes how to access the diagnostic sceen for testing device components on the device.

To access the Sidekick diagnostic screen:
  1. Press the Jump button to access the Jump screen.
  2. Press the Menu button.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select System Info.
  5. Press and hold down the Menu + Shift + D buttons.
  6. The diagnostic screen appears.

By default, all tests are selected. To choose specific tests:
  1. Press the Menu button.
  2. Select Clear all tests.
  3. Scroll to the desired test and press the wheel to select.
  4. Once the desired tests are selected, select Start Tests at the bottom of the screen.
  5. The customer will have to follow the prompts given on the screen to complete the diagnostic series of tests.

Evaluating results:
  1. If this does not resolve the issue, run the diagnostic once more even if the first attempt was successful.
    • NOTE: Only disregard a successful result if the problem described by the customer is well defined and repeatable.

The following functions can be tested:
  • Screen Rotation
  • Keyboard
  • Trackball
  • LCD Test Pattern
  • LED: this tests the D-pad navigator's red / green / blue backlight.
  • Backlight
  • Vibration & Speaker: CAUTION: this test makes a surprisingly sharp tone. This is normal.
  • Charger Detect
  • SIM Detection
  • SD Card Detection
  • Battery Cover
  • Light Meter
  • Reset capability: not recommended, do not select, not active by default
  • Burn in: not recommended, do not select, not active by default
