Hiptop Migration for SunCom CustomersThis is a featured page

THIS IS FOR SUNCOM CUSTOMERS WITH HIPTOPS ONLY

You qualify for this if:
  1. You are a former SunCom customer that was switched to T-Mobile on September 8th
  2. You have a SunCom Hiptop 2 or 3

You do NOT qualify for this if:
  1. You did not have service with SunCom during the migration (i.e. you did not get switched to T-Mobile; if you canceled 6 months ago, for example), or
  2. You do not have a Hiptop, or
  3. You do not have service with either T-Mobile or SunCom

So, if you qualify, keep reading:

First of all, welcome to T-Mobile! SunCom Hiptops are, for the time being, supported, but they are on systems independent to T-Mobile's Sidekick service. Legacy Hiptop service is going to be shut down on November 8th, 2008. After that, SunCom Hiptop devices will only be able to call and text.

Sounds like a raw deal, doesn't it? That's why T-Mobile is going to trade-in any qualifying Hiptop for a brand new Sidekick 2008 on T-Mobile's service. Affected users from SunCom will be receiving a letter explaining this and providing details on how to get the new Sidekick. This is a limited-time thing, so please make sure you take advantage of this before Hiptop shutdown in November.

More details:
  • Catalog purchases are NOT transferrable (but a credit will be applied to offset purchases on the Sidekick to replace)
  • Contacts must be manually transferred (i.e. there is no automatic system on T-Mobile's side; sync options will be available)

In other words, Hiptop3.com's coverage is true.
