Once you've added a friend, you can change what group the friend is in and how you're notified when the friend signs in/out or sends you a message. To edit a friend, do the following while in the Yahoo! Messenger application:

1. If your Friends List isn't displayed, press DONE until it appears.
   
   
2. Scroll to highlight the Yahoo! ID of the friend you wish to edit.
   
   
3. Press MENU then select Edit> Edit Friend [ E]. The Edit Friend screen displays.
   
   
4. From this screen you can:
   
   
   • Give the friend a nickname.
     
   • Change the group in which you've filed the friend.
     
   • Set alerts (notifications) for when your friend signs in, signs out, or sends you a new message.

5. After making your edits:
   
   • Press CANCEL to cancel all changes.
   • Press DONE to save your changes.
