Sidekick LX Folders

You'll see, in the illustration of the Browse Messages screen above, the "system" folders--Inbox, Drafts, Sent, and Trash. To the right of the folder name, the number of unread versus total number of messages is shown in parentheses.

  • Inbox - The Inbox folder is the default drop point for any new messages you receive. Messages shown in bold font are unread. In the example above, Inbox (2/5) contains five messages, of which two are unread. The Inbox is shown in "expanded" view (its list of messages is showing), with the first two messages in bold, indicating they are "unread."
  • Drafts - If you start composing a message but want to pause in writing it or wait to send it, then you can save the message in the Drafts folder and continue writing it later.
  • Sent - As you send a multimedia message, the message is displayed in the Sent folder (expanded view), with its status just to the left. Possible status indicators include: message is being sent, message is waiting to be sent and message was not sent due to a delivery problem. In the example above, the Sent folder has five messages in it and is shown collapsed.
  • Trash - Every message you discard from other folders is moved to the Trash folder. Discarded messages accumulate in the Trash until you explicitly use the menu option to Empty Trash. Also, as long as a message stays in the Trash you can retrieve it.

Individual messages are grouped in collapsible folder lists. To open (expand) the Sidekick folder's list of messages, use the TRACKBALL to highlight the folder name, then press the D-PAD or roll the TRACKBALL right. To collapse the list, press again or roll the TRACKBALL left.

Message Sender - If the sender of the multimedia message is in your Sidekick Address Book, then the phone number will resolve to a contact name, which displays in the left column. If the sender is not in your Address Book, then the sender's phone number will display.

Message Lead-In - The first few words of the Sidekick multimedia message will display to the left of the sender's name/phone number.

Message Size -You will see the message size to the right of the message lead-in.

Open a Message - To open an individual message, highlight the message and press the TRACKBALL.

Message Type and Status Indicators - To the left of each item in the Browse Messages screen are icons that indicate the message type and the status of the folder or message.
